I’d warrant there would be few of us if any, who have not been touched by cancer in some way whether it be personally or through family, friends or acquaintances. According to statistics breast cancer is the second most common cancer in the world and the most prevalent among women. Studies indicate the annual increase of breast cancer since 1990 in some parts of the Asia-Pacific have reportedly been up to eight times higher than the world average.
Thanks to a number of organisations and associations across the globe, awareness about this disease is also on the rise. Despite this, it is vital that we continue to spread the word and raise funds for these non profit organisations in an effort to help them offer support to many women in countries such as Indonesia who are unaware or unable to seek assistance and counselling.
Canggu Club is once again ‘in the pink’ for October – annual breast cancer awareness month. To get the ball rolling, they are offering a selection of coral coloured cocktails throughout the month at the special price of Rp90K. For every cocktail sold, Rp20k will be donated directly to the Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation. Choose from exotic sounding concoctions like Pink Lady, Berry Margaritas and Rosella Delight. Tasty and irresistible, at that price at least you can justify having a second!
On Friday October 7th, in conjunction with the Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation, Bistro C hosted their annual Think Pink Morning Tea. A delightful high tea affair where the community was invited to dress in pink and come along to help raise much needed funds for the Pink Ribbon Foundation along with raising awareness about the disease. Proceeds from ticket sales on the day went straight to the foundation.
Earlier that morning, regular Canggu Club Pump class devotees dressed in their best rose hued active wear to Pump it in Pink for breast cancer awareness, with all monies generated going directly to the Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation!
As is the case every year, the staff from Canggu Club will once again be participating in the Bali Pink Ribbon Fun 5km Walk and 5km Run. It’s the biggest event on the Bali Pink Ribbon calendar, the day kicking off at 2pm with a DJ and the welcome briefing, followed by the warm up at 3pm, the run from 4pm and walk commencing from 4.20pm. Following the energetic stuff participants are invited to stay around and enjoy the many food stalls live entertainment and raffles until 9pm!
Join the Canggu Club in their quest to be one of the largest groups to be a part this year’s event. Register to participate with the CC team at Canggu Club reception. Registration includes bottled water and this year’s Pink Ribbon T shirt. You can run, walk, jog, skip (or even skate if you like) but make sure you’re a part of the fun for a terrific cause!
For many of us, regular checks for breast cancer are routine and a part of our annual health check, however for multitudes of women without financial means, education or awareness about this silent killer, fundraising and information mornings such Canggu Club’s Pink Morning Tea are vital. Help spread the word and be a part of the drive to reduce the number of fatalities linked to breast cancer.
