FINNS Beach Club Rescues Turtle Eggs at Berawa Beachfront

Canggu, Bali – FINNS Beach Club has taken swift conservation action after discovering a nest of sea turtle eggs on its Berawa beachfront. The FINNS’s security team found the nest during a routine patrol along the shoreline. Since July, three turtles have been laying eggs at FINNS beach front, and the eggs have been rescued, totalling 294 eggs.

The eggs are from two species of turtle, the Olive ridley sea turtle (Penyu lekang) and the Green sea turtle (Penyu hijau), both of which are in endangered status. Recognizing the importance of protecting Bali’s endangered sea turtles, FINNS immediately coordinated with the local BKSDA (Natural Resource Conservation Agency) Tanjong Benoa to safely relocate the eggs. The rescue effort ensures the hatchlings will be monitored until they are ready to be released into the ocean.

“We are committed to preserving the biodiversity of Berawa Beach,” said a Abdul Manaf, ESG Manager of FINNS. “This rescue highlights our ongoing dedication to sustainability and protecting marine life, alongside our community and conservation partners.”

Bali’s beaches are vital nesting grounds for sea turtles, but rapid coastal development and human activity have threatened their survival. By safeguarding the eggs, FINNS joins ongoing island-wide efforts to ensure future generations of turtles can thrive in Bali’s waters.
