In a vibrant collaboration between industry and education, the FINNS team recently welcomed 49 Grade 11 students from Canggu Community School (CCS) for a hands-on Work Experience Program from February 26 to March 6, 2026. The initiative allowed students to step beyond the classroom and into one of Bali’s most dynamic hospitality and lifestyle groups, bridging academic theory with real-world professional experience.
To maintain operational excellence while delivering a meaningful learning experience, the students were divided into two groups and placed across seven departments. These included front-of-house roles such as Monsoon Kitchen, FB Service FBP, FGP, and VIP, as well as back-of-house placements in HR, FINNS Academy, and ESG. This diversity gave students exposure to a wide range of professional skills. Students in back-of-house roles gained insights into FINNS’ recruitment processes, sustainability initiatives, staff development, administrative tasks, and corporate reporting. Meanwhile, those in front-of-house and culinary roles experienced the fast-paced demands of hospitality operations.

The program began with a formal induction led by the Human Resources team, modeled after the company’s employee onboarding process. Students were introduced to FINNS’ corporate values, safety standards, and operational procedures before receiving uniforms and identification.

A key part of the program was its mentorship approach. Each student was paired with a departmental “buddy” who guided them through daily tasks and ensured they actively participated in the workflow rather than simply observing.
“I enjoyed learning the basics of bar work and gaining insight into the day-to-day operations,” said Asmara, who worked in the bar department. Similar reflections were shared across departments, with many students highlighting how the experience shifted their understanding of the industry.
For many participants, the five-day program was also a wake-up call about the preparation and discipline required to maintain world-class hospitality standards. Jamie, an intern at Monsoon Kitchen, noted that the experience taught her “the immense value of preparation” and the importance of seamless teamwork in delivering high-quality service.
Through initiatives like this, FINNS continues to strengthen its role not only as a leading hospitality destination but also as a contributor to education in the Balinese community, helping nurture the next generation of industry professionals.
